New to the area and was wondering about kayaking the canal. Walking it I noticed canoes on shore in different spots. Some people say yes, and some say no. Any solid information would be great. Thanks in advance and looking forward to enjoying this forum and hopefully meet some new fishing partners! Fish on!

This has been discussed here before:

I finally called the DEEP. Although the State of Connecticut owns property at both ends of the canal, most of the property that makes up the park is owned by Ahlstrom Corporation. As Desroka mentioned in the other discussion thread, Ahlstrom Corporation has prohibited boating, canoeing, kayaking and swimming in the canal, and has posted signs to that effect.
