After I boated a largemouth bass while fishing with guide Dale Merry on Bartlett Lake outside of Phoenix, today, he said, "Does it have orange eyes? Nope. Then it's not spawning." I asked, "Do they really turn orange during the spawn?", and he replied, "Yeap, they really do." I was skeptical, but I later pulled one up that had orange eyes! By the time I reached for my cellphone to take a photo, the eyes had turned back to normal.
Has anyone else ever heard of this?
