I recently picked up a boat that needs some work. The previous owner had a kid and hasn't done anything with it in a couple of seasons. I am looking to have the outboard checked out and tuned up. I know it needs a wiring harness as when I took the cover off I can see significant disintegration on the wiring and it's quite brittle. The engine is an early 80's merc 50hp. I would prefer someone who does onsite work but can take it in if not. First off I'd like to have the engine get a good once over to determine what work is needed and if it's worth it.

Any suggestions or refernces that anyone knows would be appreciated. I am willing to work with a shop or someone who does the work on the side as long as they know what they are doing.
