Gentlemen,

A few weeks back I read an article in a bass fishing magazine about “Night Fishing” and how it can produce bigger and better bass.

Well that got me thinking about trying night fishing, further in the magazine there was an article about a green LED light that you throw over the side of your boat and it attracts schools of baitfish. The schools of baitfish then attract the BIG BASS.

The green light was pretty cool idea, until I seen the price $250 to $400. That’s way to much to pay for a LED green light.

So I started thinking, I can make this light and at a fraction of the cost.

I work part time selling emergency warning lights and I looked around for a small but bright green LED.

Once I found that light I adhered it to a boat buoy and went to the cove to try the light out.

OMG, it works with in minutes the baitfishes were all over the light. They were like moths to a flame, hundreds of them. I took pictures but the camera had with me wasn’t the very best for night pictures.

We (my wife and daughter) watched for about 15 minutes and the longer we stayed the more seem to come. While I was talking with a fisherman about the light my wife swears she seen a bass swim into the bait scooping them up.

I can’t wait to try this out when I have my fishing pole.

If your interest in making one for your self please feel free to contact me and I’ll let you know how to go about it. Total cost should be less than $100.00.

Tight lines..

Ron

There is a pretty big hype on the green lights as of lately. Let us know how you do when you try fishing with it.

Poeple have neon glow sticks over the side of the boat at Squantz all the time for the same purpose. Alot of the night fishing walleye guys do it to attract the bait fish, and the walleye soon follow them.

Its nothing new and glow sticks are dirt cheap.

Ive had one on my boat for years. Maybe ill snap it in half on a slow night Smile

A little OT here.

I have the Hydro-Glow (under $200) and use it for offshore sword fishing. The amount of bait and tuna it has attracted over the years is well worth the price.

Saturday night I went to the Wethersfield cove to try out the green light.

My boat's trolling motor was out being fixed under warantee so my son and I hit the dock.

The light worked good, my son caught a 2lb bass. I had a hit on somethings that felt big.

Once I get the boat in the water I'll try it out again.

You should be embarrased for not having a rod with you or in your car at all times.

Plopplop,

If I had a rod in my truck all the time I would never get where I'm going..

Jim,

My son was using a buzz bait "white", I was using a jitter bug..

I wonder if a green glow stick would have similar results.

I think Rookie was talking about those in his post.

I hear that glow stix working, however the intensity is nowhere as bright as a LED light.

Will the LED attrack more fish because it's brigther? Won't know until we try it..
