Of the lakes that are not off-season right now,..
I know that Quonnipaug is open, Gorton's pond is open, Dooley Pond is open and Pattaganset should be open by now (still had just a little ice in front of the boatramp last weekend..)! Cool

In the Meriden area both Lake Beseck and Black pond are completely open and launchable.

Anyone know the status of Lilly? Candy? Highland?

Thanks for update Jay.

Never fished Black Pond, What's it like? Can you get a bass boat launched easily there?

Black pond is a sesspool. Its a shitty over fished lake that is pounded by fish mongers.

You can get a bass boat in there, no big motors. Better off hitting beseck right down the road. Way better off.

Nick, don't hold back bro, tell me what you really think! Laughing

Thanks for the heads up.

Fished Besek a few times never done well there. I'd like to get out one day after the 15th, been loaded down with work, studying for an exam, etc. Really could use a half day afternoon on the water.

I have seen some good fish pulled out of black pond over the years. I do prefer going to beseck, where I catch better numbers of fish and have a wider variety of cover types.

I think I will be heading to beseck this weekend to get the boat back in the water.

Good to hear from you Walt! Hope to see you at our Tackle sale on the 22nd

Ive done well at beseck this time of year- way better then black or silver- anytime. You can really do a number there sometimes. Ive caught 2 decsent fish out of black pond ever. Maybe 3 if you count the back pads in summer.

A 5 11 on a jig- randomn summer afternoon trip
A 3 12 on a swimbait- trout truck stopped by a few days before

Stumpy, our small bass club fishes Beseck at least once a year for the last 15 years, and I believe your not to exceed 10 mph before 11am, or something like that, I don't have the Conn. lakes and ponds guide at my disposal right now.
