missed steelhead fishing last year but the year before i went up for two days. Hooked up with 14 fish and landed around 7 or 8. Not bad for my first steelhead trip:) Everyone tried telling me that it was the fish of 1000 casts. Well i figured out that was complete BULL since i got my first one on my second! Trust me, i ALWAYS bring my camera! I have a friend who lives up there and he knows the river just as well as any of the guides

It was kind of slow all weekend. Saturday it was windy which made fishing VERY tough but i ended up hooking up with one BEAST. Was probably a 15 pound fish. I got it about 3 feet away from the shore and my line snapped Sad Sunday was HELL. It was only about 25 degrees and snowing but the wind was absolutely bone chilling! My feet and hands were so numb that i spent most of the day out of the water trying to warm up. I did end up hooking into about 2-3 fish for a few seconds but that was it. Today it was snowing yet again but the wind died down. Even though it was only 8 degrees i somehow managed to stay warm. I ended up hooking into 3 fish. One was only around 4 pounds but spit the hook. The next was yet another BEAST. After fighting it for about a minute it made a run which pulled my line all the way out to my backing so i was forced to break it off. The last one i got all the way to shore but realized i had foul hooked it so i broke it off. Wasn't a bad weekend but wasnt the best i've had. What was really frustrating was that all three days there was the same group of about 5-6 people along with two locals who had a spot on the river that they stayed in all day and absolutely KILLED them. Seemed like the fish just sat there the whole weekend.

Not sure what you mean about the foul hooking, wouldnt you want to reel it in and try and take the hook out of it?

i hooked the fish in the tail. Up there if people see that you've foul hooked a fish they start yelling and telling you to break it off. So a lot of times people break the fish off as soon as they realize that its snagged. Plus its illegal to do.

Up there if someone is in your business tell them to mind there own because as long as you dont keep the fish when foul hooked you good. rather land the fish and take the hook out than leave it in the fish to get more injured. what if your leader gets hung up on a tree when the fish swims by it come on. your line dont snap at the hook at all times. cant wait to go back up there FISH COMING UP!!!!!

thats what i would rather do but some of the guides and locals are complete a-holes and think its gonna kill the fish if you bring it in the wrong way.
