Planed to meet my in-law @ rogers park pond to see if we could catch some bass!

I get down there and my in-law said I keep missing a fish on this tip-up it runs like crazy but, I cannot catch what ever it is. Shortly after maybe 20 minutes has past the tip up pops and the line runs... I end up grabbing the line setting the hook and it seems I lose the fish!! The rest you can see is in the video below!

Many of the same holes produced multiple fish jigging and with a tip ups this one for example:

For being a bullhead and the size we usually catch, this one was BIG.

Before putting the tip up back in the hole my in law jigs a swedish pimple with some spikes and pulls out a bass

Water depth around 5 ft deep
minnow size - small
jigs used - swedish pimple & "airplane"

depth fished minnows 8in - 2ft off the bottom
depth fished w/ jigs bottom - 3ft from the bottom

The morning and early afternoon went well with plenty of small bass and sunfish caught.
As the day went on we had to fish much higher off the bottom.

I havent caught a decent bass through the ice until then.

We didnt expect to catch much but, hoped we did since my in law had caught a few bass through the ice the day or two before.

I trusted the ice there and figured we could cover the whole pond in a short time, so why not fish it.

Now witht his weather no matter where I go it probably wont be until this weekend
