Hi!

Went by this tag sale today!
On the 2nd table was loads of ice fishing gear for sale.

Got 6 new un-opened spools of 3 lb. test ice fishing Fireline (gray).
3 double-sided boxes full of ice fishing jigs of all sizes, colors, + glow type (Must be better than 100 jigs).
2 jigging rods with reels (Looked new).
And 5 Black-Flag brand tip-ups.

Was a power ice auger -> But got sold before I got there.

Lady there told me it was her dad's gear who passed away.
Sold me all for $15.00 Thumbs Up

WOW! What a find -> "I'm ready - I'm ready Exclamation " Very Happy

OK, as someone who has never ice fished please tell me the difference between ice fishing gear (poles, line) compared to standard freshwater equipment.

Hi ff!

Well the poles are mini versions of standard spinning or baitcasting set-ups used mostly for jigging.
Then there are tip-ups.

Recomend, if you want to get into ice fishing, that you start now by going to Google and read all you can about it. Thumbs Up
Oh! When getting started -> Keep it simple then add gear as you get better and if you like it..
Lot less costly!

3 things that are very important about ice fishing:

Ice should always be 4" thick or better!
ALL safety gear (paramount) + never go alone!
Warm clothing and especially warm waterproof boots + Wool socks -> (Never wear anything made of Cotton -> Death fiber in winter!) -> Nothing worse then ice fishing for a few hours with Cold Feet!

Thanks, dont kn ow if Im going to try it just wanted to understand it more as to why the equipment would be different. Bigger pole just means stand farther away from the hole! LOL
