So I got up @ 4:30 AM to go fishing at tamarac lake in millbrook NY. I went with my brother In-Law corey. We finally got out on the lake at 5:50 AM the conditions were absolutely perfect. The water was like glass the only movement was our lures hitting the water and fish jumping (oh joy). right of the bat my second cast with a top water bait (spitter walker by rapala) produced a decent beutiful looking largemouth bass. The next three hours were great with lots of fish being caught. Taqmarac is a great lake with awsome structure, broken down trees, stumps you name it. We finished the day with 21 largemoputh caught, 13 from me and 8 from corey. I caught a couple of two pounders one was once shy of two pounds. I may have caught more fish than corey but he caught the biggest on with a weight of 3 pounds even. Anyway, I thought I'd share one of my best fishing experinces with you all. I also took some pics with my phone. BTW all but two of my fish were caught on gary yomamato senco lures (blue pearl). corey caught most of his on root beer color. gotta have it!

Awesome job guys, congrats. Nice report and pics. Ditto on those Senkos. A definite must have bait to keep in your tacklebox, the only negative is they don't last long once the bass start chewing on them. Wink

t-val, the lake is part of the preserve and we have special permission and private access but, I think there might be public access on the other side. While fishing there I see cars pull up and people fihing from the road however, I don't see people in boats. I'm not sure if there is a launch site or what, it is on the opposite side of the lake from where we launch. I will try to find out more info for you if you'd like.

SencoBandit, yes I had tried frogs on those lilys before with some luck but, I did not try on this day. I had too much luck with the gary yamamoto (yamasenko) lures. You know what they say "if it aint broke don't try to fix it"

Sketterjim, you are so right about the yamasenkos they are so soft that you basically go through one senko per fish. And a bag of 10 are like $5.99. I've got tons of pieces of torn up senkos that are basically useless. If you snag a weed to many times there done for.

ctfishtalk, I'm glad you got a chance to check it out last night but, I'm sorry you had no luck. It was definately the severe thunder storm that spooked them. Not to mention you did not have alot of time to fish.

This is a little off the topic but, my wife (sidekik) just joined the site. We spent 45 minutes down at the tamarac preserve last night just fishing from shore. ON her second cast with a wave worm she landed a good size largemouth (probably 2 pounds plus) I did not weigh it. I caught nothing, I think it was the severe thunder storm that spooked them a couple of hours earlier. Sounds like a good excuse anyway. here is a picture.
