Does anyone fish for mackerel or catch them accidentally? I'm planning a trip to Quebec, and from what I've heard, that's the only saltwater fish available. Some guys told me shiny lures, but what size and what pound test? Thanks.

I fished Long Island Sound for about 20 years and rarely saw any Mackerel out there. One time they were in and I seem to remember we were out in the middle of the sound and dropped a string small hooks with tubes on them. I don't remember if there was a spoon attached or not. We dropped them down quite a ways and drifted and jigged them up and down and filled the boat one day. We froze them and used them for bluefish bait. That was a long time ago though, probably 20 years ago. We mostly used bunker over the years for our bait because they were plentiful. Always around.
