Went for fluke off of black point. Got some scup (porgies for you non-native RI'ers) and one under-sized fluke. Tried from 60' to 100' of water. I'm new at the saltwater boat thing so my lack of skill and knowledge shined.

I have just learned the art of "Fluking" It's ok. I think at that depth you would need a huge amount of weight to hold bottom. I have had pretty good luck in like 16-30ft. A few 20's a 26" and a ton of shorts. You can get great hook sets!

I was fishing from a new boat, in a new spot and under new conditions using an unfamiliar lure, yesterday. I know exactly how you feel.

If ignorance is bliss, I'm the happiest guy on the planet! Very Happy

I should have known it was a full moon before I went. I had a fast drift and started having trouble holding bottom with an 8 ounce sinker.

Nothing wrong with a big sinker for fluking. The more mud you push up and the more bounce you get from the sinker the more active fluke become.
