Hi!

Doing some erans today and decided to drive up to Colebrook Res.
Water very high and just lapping into the parking lot.
Decided to try a bit of fishing. (Was 3:30 PM)
Only had my micro-light rod and reel with 3 lb. test Fireline.
Tied on a small weighted Cream Shad (Silver and Blue).
Made a 1/2 dozen casts in the far corner and started to get a few ticks.

Next cast, I got hit very hard.
Fish ran and almost spooled me.
Had to play it gently!
Finally after about 15-20 minutes I landed the fish.
To my surprise it was one BIG Smallie Exclamation (Thought it was a big Brown trout.)
It measured from my finger tips to elbow and I estimated it went 5-6 lbs.
Fat very strong fish and I did release it!

Not bad for just goofing off and making a few casts Exclamation Very Happy Thumbs Up

If you ask me this is when that place turns on. you can fish there all summer long and never catch a solid 3+lb smallie. Come fall the big girls seem to come out from where they have been hiding all year long and want to play.i have seen a few smallies over 5lbs caught and have caught a few myself pushing 5lbs caught there this time of year. Tough tough lake to fish but always a shot at a donkey smallie.

as for your fish.........nice catch! arent you glad you stopped?
