When I was a kid, I used to hear stories of fisherman catching sharks off of Manresa Island (LI Sound off of Norwalk), any validity there?

Sand sharks are what you get in western LIS. They aren't as vicious and harmful as your usual shark.

And brown sharks, and sand tiger sharks, and thresher sharks... there's over a dozen types that come right into the sound. Some more frequent than others, and probably a LOT more often than you think...

There is a nice 10 foot hammerhead on the wall in Rowayton taken at Manresa.
