Yesterday I decided to try some flyfishing at Wharton Brook trout park in Wallingford since its close by and I only had about an hour to fish. I managed to catch 4 trout and lost at least that many all on wooly buggers ...olive and black. The fish were hitting short so I cut the tails of my flies back and started hooking fish. Overall fishing seemed slow for most people and the pond probably needs another stocking.

good call on trimming the tails. I tend to tie them long and any time they short strike, trimming those tails will help.

Yeah I tie mine long and mix in a few strands of flash. I believe it adds some added attraction to the bugger.
