Seal found with bullet wound

(Mystic-WTNH) _ A seal found beached at Seaside Park in Bridgeport had a bullet lodged behind its left eye, and will likely lose that eye permanently.

"It's effectively gone," said Mystic Aquarium veterinarian Dr. Lawrence Dunn.

Workers for Mystic Aquarium found the bullet after bringing the male harbor seal from the beach to the aquarium. The beached five-foot, 212 pound seal spent several hours on the beach Tuesday at the park before it could be captured and taken to Mystic for treatment.

Along with the bullet wound, the seal had bite wounds on its flippers and may have an infection and problems with its nervous system.

It's not known how the animal suffered the bullet wound.

Yep there are some real scumbags out there growing up there was a beluga whale that spent much of its time around the breakwalls and was shot because it was raiding lobster traps.
