Decided to try Waramaug on Wed. so loaded up the canoe tues. nite. Up a 4 AM, on the water by 5:15 launching from the state park. Had a couple of great days there last year, and was hoping for a repeat. Water was 73 +/- with no wind. Fishing was good for about 2 hours and the died. But I landed about a dozen bass with a couple of SM in the mix. Nothing over 2 lbs. unlike last year that had some 3's and 4 lb fish . Everything was shallow. Docks, lay downs & weed edges. Spinner bait, rattle trap & plastics did the trick. After the bite died, tried cranking some deeper spots, but that didn't pan out. Always surprised at the lack of fishermen on Waramaug. I know the lack of a public access ramp keeps people away. But a lot of boats tied up at docks going unused. Oh well, more fish for me.LOL. Good to be out on the water.
