Mental-man is the right person to start this thread...he culled some absolute slobs from the western sound (< 1 mile from my mooring) last Spring!

o.k. so it was 2-3 miles as the crow flies...still right in my back yard (and I routinely used to steam to the Eaton's Neck Triangle for bass a few years ago)

Fished the Triangle today (LIS) between bouy 13 and 11B. Trolled up two bass 25" and 22". The tubes and umbrella rigs weren't working so switched to a chartruse parachute and that was the ticket. Lots of birds working the area today.

tight lines

OK, I'm finally getting out on HOAF tomorrow, so I'll let you all know how I make out. Smile Tomorrow will mainly be for checking the boat out, but I'll bring some bait along and see what I can stir up Cool Laughing

Decided to take a run out east a bit today to the Lilco stacks..Took my step son who is leaving for the Navy tomorrow and he loves to fish for fluke. Ended the day with 9 fluke from 19 1/2" to 22 1/2" all were released for another day... Got beat up on the ride back to Greenwich...but it was worth it.. Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy

Late report from yesterday..
Had the Raguso's out for a 4 hr local fluke trip...bite still isint there yet...any day now... we did manage 3 shorts....and dropped one keeper at the boat...

Today took a shot at the bass with a buddy......took yesterdays fresh ice downed bunker and managed to snag a bunch more....set up off the mouth of Hempstead Harbor for dozens of runoffs...boated 7 fish to 24lbs and kept two for the table..

The Western Sound Bass bite has started and its only going to get better!!!!
