What is your favorite bait to skip under docks with the best results?

and

What kind of set up do you use, and with what type and size of line?

and

What is the largest bass you have ever taken from under a dock with this technique, and on what lake?

For me, my 2 favorites are a 4" magnum flippin tube, and a 5" senko type bait. Both rigged Texas style with a 1/16th oz tungsten bullet weight. Both on a 6'6" medium action St. Croix spinning rod, spooled with 12lb. berkley vanish floro.

For me it was a 5lb 11oz largemouth on Highland Lake, on the senko type bait.

I love skipping 5" houdini shad or similar plastic swim baits. My best under dock fish was probably a 3lber. The H shads skip like a flat rock. Senko's and tubes are also great for skipping. My technique needs work though.

i like to use soft plastics texas rigged, either 6 to 8 inch powerbait, tequila sunrise worms, or rootbeer shads. caught a 6 lber under a dock just to the left of the boat ramp at Quinepaug. 6'6" shakespear spinning setup, 30 lb braid.

the picture is my avatar of that fish(im wearin a red shirt and waders, its also in my photo album....[/url]

Just kidding...

I don't have a favorite. I will throw tubes, spinner baits, jigs, wacky rig but mostly a creature bait Texas rig weightless.

Rod = Shimano Curado 6'6" & Reel = Pfluger President

Largest about a 3lb LMB

I generally flip 4-5" senkos texas rigged, usually any variation on the color green....depending on the depth I rig it up with a jig head of various weight.

Also don't mind flipping the occasional whacky rigged senko. I also find a nice Mepps lure will get them moving out from under the docks now and again...

Largest bass caught flipping docks? 3 lber at Northfarms res

No docks at the ponds that I fish. My best flippin bass was a really long 24 inch but skinny 5.12 pound largemouth. I caught it flippin into a fallen down tree in about 5ftw on a weightless black/blue fleck chigger. My favorite rod of all time my 7ft 6 Light Power St. Croix Premier Casting rod on 8 pound test trilene smooth casting line spooled up on a Shimano Citica. That rod will go underneath my boat when I big bass is on and come up the other side. Lets just say it makes a 1 pound bass feel like 4 pounds during the battle. I catch bigger fish in the hydrilla thats where its at. Dying to try out my 7ft 6 heavy action St. Croix Premier paired with an Ardent XS600 5:4:1 spooled with 30 pound Power Pro this year.

Does green really work for you? I've never had a single bump on anything green. I convinced myself that a hungry bass is not going to hit a moving weed, so thats why I really don't throw much green. I live and die by black, blue, and purple. Brown is alright too but those 3 colors are dangerous. I have caught bass on white and chartreuse spinnerbaits, but anything thats moving slow bright colors doesn't work for me.

Bluegill terminator, I think what he means by any variation of green is, watermelon, melon peper, green pumpkin, baby bass, amber core shot, etc.
All those colors are great, as most critters in nature try to blend themselves into their surroundings to hide, and prevent themselves from being eaten by larger predators. This includes water dwelling creatures like bait fish, crawfish, worms, nymphs, etc. I agree that dark colors have their place, I throw those as well until the fish tell me they want some other color.

So start throwing green baits or you will be missing out on alot of fish that could be looking for the green bait your not throwing.
