I came across this site and couldn't help but ask myself, who in their right mind would pay $16,000 for a 13-14lb bass?!

This is probably more information than you wanted, Joe, but when I read your post I automatically thought about the regulations regarding the importation, transportation or liberation of live fish in Connecitcut. You'd probably need a permit to import a live black bass into the state if you planned to "liberate" it. 26-55-1. Importation, transportation or liberation of live fish or live fish eggs, states, in pertinent part:
| Quote: | | No person, firm or corporation shall import into this state, transport for the purpose of liberation within this state or liberate into the waters of this state live fish or live fish eggs except as hereinafter provided. |
26-55-1(h) states, in pertinent part, an exception for "common aquarium species":
| Quote: | | No permit shall be required to import live, common aquarium species. |
However, certain fish, like pirhana, walking catfish and triploid grass carp, are specially regulated, and I don't think that black bass would qualify as a "common aquarium species".
I guess that I'll always think like a lawyer. . . .
