Quint and I headed out this morning to our Sea Bass spot.
We Caught countless porgies and kept 20 fish ,not 1 kept porgy was under 12 inches.
Also while we didn`t slaughter the Sea Bass like last year we did catch about 20.Many of the fish were in the 12 inch range but we threw those back and only kept these piggies.

Those sun glasses are great!!!! Are they from the Lt. Jim Dangle collection?

It was a decent day of fishing yesterday. Hopefully the fish will really turn on within the next week or 2. As far as the sea bass fishing goes it was pretty slow compared to years past.

FYI Mark...I am going up to Mass Cod fishing this weekend. Sea bass will have to wait until Sunday.

Whoooa Surprised
Nice sea bass indeed, good job guys!

With gasoline at $4.20/gl, I must explore places closer to home, like New Haven.

Well... out of New Haven. Hey Quint, feel free to guide me to good fishing grounds closer to home Laughing Laughing Usually I tow from New Milford all the way to Niantic Bay (90 plus miles one way)...at $4.20 a gallon I need to explore near by waters.

Bridgeport supposedly has some very nice fluke fishing, cuts your trip by 80%

NIANTIC!!!! Dude thats just crazy. I fished up there for many years and the fishing down this end of the sound is as good as it is to the east, if you do your homework. For example last week alone we caught 31 keeper bass with one fish pushing 38lbs and the rest were 39-43" and solid 25-30# fish. As far as fluking goes it is slim pickings for most but Plopplop and I don't seem to have any trouble. You just have to do your homework. The problem is there are no public ramps that are open past sunset. So if you are not a resident you are screwed. They have been ticketing this year.

I believe there is a public ramp up the housy in Milford.I am not 100% sure of this so don`t quote me but I know it use to be.

With the amount of money you are paying towing your boat to and fro every weekend you can probably get a slip in West Haven pretty cheap. Not to mention the wear and tear on the truck. That is assuming u r not docked in Niantic.

Bassarama let me know when your going to be giving New Haven a shot and plop plop and i will try to hook up with you. I may be able to give you some tips on where and when (tides) to fish the harbor so your not fishing blind.

How big of a boat?

Thank you

I might take you up on that offer. Due to a number of unexpected circumstances, I'm way behind my fishing schedule this year. I will certainly contact you when ready.

I think I can live with the 7am to dusk timing and seasonal 50 bucks fee for Lighthouse Park, as long as I can easily launch my 20 foot wellcraft. We'll stay in touch...
