For what the Sahara costs, you've got yourself a nice little reel. The Shimanos only get better as the price goes up. The only reel's I've fished since the 80's.

Like Mark said, Shimanos make great reels. Buy the most you can afford. The difference between premium reels versus the lower end ones is like night and day. Like they say, "Buy cheap, buy twice." Like tools you have to consider your reels like an investment. Nothing ruins a great day out on the water like having problems with your equipment. Have been using Shimanos for over 25 years.

For me Symetre is the best value in the spinning reel line up. At around $80. You get excellent quality. I've use the more expensive reels but really haven't notice and real difference to induce me to pay more. I've got 8 Symetres and use them all the time. Great reels!

I love my Stradics. I believe that the new ones can be had on ebay for about $130. Cool

The new stradics are the shit.

I now have 3 in the 2500 size. Fluid as sin and a beautiful cast/drag system.
