I took a kid up the street fishing with me opening day and all he used was a size zero Mepps, and he caught 3 Trout, 2 Perch and a Largemouth. They don't work well in a strong current unless you are going against it.

if you can find them Creme makes a small red or natural color rubber worm rigged with a spinner and beads in front of the head. They are small like 2 or 3 inches long. When all else fails that is what I go to.

Went to the Farminton river over the weekend. No luck with spinners. Probably because it was midday. Sinking Rapala landed 1 rainbow at 14" (not by me though!). Saw a TON of rises. Going back soon to try the flies!

Spinner fishing in the river has been great for me, I've caught numerous rocks, stumps, branches, OTHER spinners, most likely jimmy hoffa, and a few other things. No fish tho Evil or Very Mad
