I will once again be hosting my Annual Snowball Team Open. We are going back to Highland Lake this year. I've been told by the Town of Winsted that they will be doing a 3 foot lake drawdown this year that will begin on November 1 and they will close the gates again on November 16. With the tournament scheduled for Nov. 9, we should be in OK shape in regards to water levels. This is a benefit tournament to assist the CBFN Junior State Team. This event is open to anyone who would like to come out and challenge themselves in late fall/early winter fishing, and help out a worthy cause. Hope to see a bunch of you there. Thanks.

Kieth came in 2nd Shocked

Reed johnson had 20.89 or so for 8. EVeryone else struggled. I had 2nd or third largest bass at 3.89 I think. Lunker was right above 4. Tough day- lots of zeroes and 1 or 2 fish limits- we had 2.

Sorry but i wanted to make sure i had the right results & had everyone's name right....As i didn't run the tournie....

Thanks goes out to those who showed up to fish. I'll be making a nice donation of about $350 to the Junior Federation. Pretty nice day for November fishing, just too bad they weren't biting better. Everyone who caught fish had the same story, TOUGH!, TOUGH!, TOUGH! Only two 8 fish limits came in.

On to some results. We had 22 teams fishing bringing in 62 bass to the scales (26 largemouth, 36 smallmouth) for a total weight of 123.09 pounds.

Team Name -- # FISH-- Big Fish -- Weight
Reed Johnson & Justin Mesick -- 8 -- 4.79 -- 20.59
Steve Deguzis & Keith Thompson -- 8 -- 3.04 -- 16.02
Mike Hall & Dave Trajanowski -- 6 -- 3.75 -- 13.32
Scott Garrison & Bob Nelson -- 5 -- 3.55 -- 12.82
Jon Puhalski & Jon Puhalski II -- 6 -- 3.53 -- 11.08
Scott Janus & Rich Gambardella -- 6 -- -- 9.93
Bill Ponte & Wolf Roller -- 5 -- -- 7.23
Jeff Puhalski & Chris Neri -- 4 -- 1.95 -- 5.57
Bill Slavis & Pete Bristol -- 3 -- -- 5.28
Dan Dobroczynski & Chris Misacaldi -- 3 -- 3.20 -- 5.25
Nick Papotto & Zack Papotto -- 2 -- 3.80 -- 4.74
Harry Gordon & Rob Timms -- 1 -- 3.89 -- 3.89
Joel Lackey & Bryan Lackey -- 2 -- -- 3.40
Jim Stevens & Rob Killeen -- 2 -- -- 2.74
John Ogolik & Lewis Schaller -- 1 -- -- 1.23

The other 7 teams did not bring any fish to the scales, though, that's not to say they didn't catch them. A lot of folks reported catching some big pickeral also.
My teams big fish came on a SPRO BBZ-1 swimbait and we also had a another couple of bumps on that bait but couldn't hook up. We had been getting some quality largemouth shallow prior to the tournament but of course come tournament day, they all changed to 13 inch fish. We got three others on jig & pig and two on grubs.
Thanks again to everyone who showed up.

The morning started great with my first fish being a 3.5 lb smallie, but it definitely turned out to be a tough day. We ended up catching 3 decent fish in the last hour to squeak out our limit, not sure if it was the clouds and wind that rolled in for a bit, or they just happen to be where we were. We had one rat that barely touched the line, but nonetheless, he made it. The odd weather patterns leading up to the tourney prolly screwed things up, so we had to keep moving around to catch fish, but there were many lulls in between hooksets. Fish came from 10 to 25 fow.

It's always nice to have a repeat victory.
