Anyone know how long the mounts for a bow mount trolling motor are good for. You know they are rubber mounts that fit into the holes that secure the motor. Mine are from 2005 and it seems the screws don't want to tighten up anymore. cmorjoe

They are basically a one time use only type (squeeze mount), if they seem loose just get new ones and replace them, they are cheap enough. I have never had to use them, as I was always lucky to have an access hole under where the trolling motor mounts to use nylock nuts and stainless steel bolts, so I can't tell you how long they usually last, but they are so cheap to replace, compared to the cost of a new trolling motor, that I wouldn't hesitate to do it if it was my rig. Just my 2 cents......

Gary,

You said NYLOCK NUTS. OMG, I thought you were my friend. Use LOCTITE.

242 is for this application, You only need hand tools to remove the nuts and bolts. PLUS no water will get between the threads causing rust so you can remove the nuts with no problems.

ALSO, Loctite is cheaper than NYLOCK NUTS. Nylock nuts are around .10-.15 cents each. Loctite is only .02 per drop, so it will last longer and go further.

Ok, Class is no over.

PS. I have tons at my house, just stop by.

Ron

Gary,

It's the fire house that keeps me out so much. If the residents would stop burning toast and rolling there cars over on Willard ave I'd be home more. Two roll over at the corner of Robbins and Willard in less than a week.

On a good note. The tracker is coming along nicely. Going to dmv in the morning to get it reggied.

cmorjoe, they will last awhile, just make sure they are always snug, I check mine before I go out everytime, but with your boat being a few years old, I would definetely get a new set, a new set only has 4, my trolling motor has 6, so make sure you get enough, very easy to install.

And if you cannot tighten them anymore, you need a new set.

I have not heard back from channel 3 yet, so don't get your hopes up. I need to send them another e mail to find out what's up with the no response.
