Not to my knowledge. I think only boats with a gas/diesel motor must be registered.

Just found it online...The DEP site says it has to be registered and I would also have to take a boating course....all for a 8lb thrust trolling motor...but yet you can ride motorcycle with no helmet.... hahahahahaha...this state cracks me up.......and I'd have to pay $30.00 to register it

You are correct, it must be registered, because once you put any motor on it, gas or electric, it becomes a motorized vessel and must be registered.

I agree a crazy deal, that's why I never bothered to register my canoe when I was a teenager, after getting a ticket for just such an offense. So I got a 12 foot aluminum and registered that to get started bass fishing instead.

Definately, I'm glad the DEP officer didn't have a breath-a-lizer machine in his car that day many many moons ago, or the outcome would have been much worse, because we were all under age, and drunk as skunks.

Oh, it was for sure, even with the ticket in hand. The officer was cool and let us fish the rest of the day, so we proceeded to get even more intoxicated while fishing from an illegal vessel.

How I remember the floating cans, amongst the placid water and sunset background.... How the cans got to the water is another story... All can say is, "My line...!"

I can remember myself saying, I got it, along with another angler, the next thing I can remember is that I'm standing on my trolling motor battery, on my tippi toes with my nose barely above water, with empty budweiser cans floating around my head thinking WTF!

A true kodak moment among friends that will never be forgotten.
