I've fished Walnut Beach quite a few times. All I've caught are Sea Robins (26 inches)and Snappers (6 inches) I can only cast 50 feet out. I've heard reports of bluefish or stripers but never actually saw someone land one. Also, is it legal to fish Silver Sands State Park? Someone told me it was illegal. Please reply

I grew up in Milford about two miles from Walnut Beach. All we did as kids was fish there for snappers. We used to give them to an old retired man that lived on our street. When we got older we starting fishing Gulf beach and the sanbar to Charles Island. We caught plenty of blues and strippers in those areas. Once in awhile you would hook into a decent sand shark as well. Sea robins were just part of the deal. I haven't fished in the area or saltwater in 16 years so I don't know what the deal is about silver sands since it was still a dump when I lived down there, _________________ The TACKLE HUT - American Made products

Thanks, the snappers are fun, especially when they got picky about the way we hooked our baitfish. I remember once, a kid was using a sunfish rod for 6 in. snappers. Then a monster sea robin jumped out of the water and swallowed his bait. His line broke after a few minutes (and almost his rod too)
