I think you need to let people know what town you would like to fish in, so that they can let you know what is close to you.

We've had some good cold days resently.
SO Exclamation using a little common sense, this question is very easy to answer Exclamation Exclamation

1.) Get a map of CT.
Draw a line thru the middle of the state from west to east.
Any bodies of water north of the line are reasonably safe.
Those south of the line are likely questionable.
Until after this up coming cold WX week. 1 thru 7 Jan. 2010.

2.) You have to start doing some of your own research and make some road trips to check out those bodies of water you want to fish.

3.) With more and more ice fishermen entering the sport, most long time icefishermen are reluctant to make ice reports this time of year (1st ICE) so as not to have a great many people showing up at their favorite lakes and ponds.
Believe me everyone wants to keep their "Honey Holes" a secret Exclamation Exclamation

I may make a post of having a good or poor day fishing but not say where I was fishing Exclamation
Prefer the waters I fish to be occupied with few people or none at all Exclamation
Peace and Quiet is what I seek Exclamation

yah where do you live and where do you want to fish and for what ? I live in New Britian and i myself am looking for some new places to ice fish. Unsure what my next trip will be to. Confused write me a note back. Bolton Lake sounds really promising but i have never fished there. Would like some info as to where to park and where to fish ect. ,but like the man said everyone has their secret spots, and i dont blame them for not giving to much info. Used to live in Thomaston and ice fished Bantam alot as well as a few small ponds around Bethlehem seems these days alot of water has unsafe fish to eat, the only time i eat fish is in winter it seems, i release all my trout in the spring and summer pretty much.I gotta say the one i got yesterday at the Farmington was one of the BEST tasting fish ive eaten in a long time Very Happy wasn't much ice and i was prob. crazy to out there but i didnt go to far from shore and it was good to be outdoors Very Happy saw a couple rabbits and geese and just relaxed a little. anyway im rabblin its early and im trying to think how to talk my wife into letting me buy some new boots and stuff today. if anyones out today be careful and tight lines!!!!! write me a note back if you can. erics Razz

Anywhere above Bantam lake all have at least 5 inches on it. The best way to find out is to drive yourself as Seadog said. Everyone likes to lie about ice reports so I just drive out myself and I really don't like to share info on spots because then you get everybody, and there brother and sister fishing right next to you on a small pond. I was on a pond today 1/2/10 with about 5 inches in Harwinton near the (FAIRGROUNDS) and I caught 16 largemouth bass between half a pound to 3.4 pounds, and 8 pickerel. I actually ran out of bait so thats why I came home early. I don't know why you can not ice fish Batterson either for some reason. Mad Btw Stanley Quarter ponds have big bass thru the ice...
