I was killing time and stopped by to check out Rainbow Reservoir. It was blustery today, so I just fished from the shore. On my first cast from the boat ramp, my line played out and I thought, wow, the current here is really strong. A second later, I realized that I actually had a fish on. I caught my first ever smallmouth bass, just a little 10-incher, but it was a nice fish.

Easy does it PECo...

The first one is all it takes some times... the second one is as good as coffin nails.

Thanks, Schmoe. I just saw the photos Bass Addict posted last year of the drained reservoir. Although I might be reading too much into one smallie, I'm amazed at how quickly the fish came back to it.

I'm going to check out Batterson in my kayak tomorrow and am hoping for little to no wind.

Rainbow is river fed, and not just ANY river... the Farmington!!
She was full o fish the day after they opend that dam back up.

Batterson is a nice spot early in the year. look for the sunken island. or flip jigs all the way across at the breakwall.

Who knows... might see ya out there one of these days... will either be in a yak or a lil jonboat with trolling motor on bow, and the stern stickin WAY out of the water... and fish tailin hard as I drive... lol. it looks stupid... but it works.
