I'm shopping for a portable fish finder to use with my plastic kayak. Does anyone have any experience with the Humminbird PiranhaMax 230 or any recommendations for my application?

My FF is a Piranhamax 220 but not the portable kind. It works most of the time and does a good job of showing depth and structure but It messes up here and there and will mark objects as fish and calculate depth wrong on lakes with a soft bottom. Check out some kayak forums, a lot of guys mount transducers in the hull set in pool of Vaseline or silicone. I had originally done that and it worked just the same, I only moved it to get water temp.
