Quannipaug yesterday. this idiot has string fence along the water. There was a baby goose stuck in it with an adult protecting it. I tied the boat to the dock next door and snuck around in his property with my knife and reached in and sliced several strings to cut it free. My parnert took pics of the whole thing. This morning i called the tip line and have been waiting for a call from an officer. i hope this guy gets nailed for something.

You give fishermen a good name.

The DEP is extremely short staffed and just suffered layoffs all over Connecticut again, thank you Governor Rell you are doing a fantastic job. FYI local police departments can be called in, for many of the problems that the DEP answers to.

I am not making excuses for the DEP, I do have a couple of people I call friends working for them but they are backed up.

a dead goose is a good goose, they shit all over the place, they can ruin a small body of water, its the property owners right to keep them off.if you go to winchester lake one of the owners has a electric fence set 10-12" off the ground for the same reason, you might not like it or agree but it is there right as proprty owners

A dead goose is a good goose if your doing it legally and with good intentions. Yes your right, they are a pain in the butt for small bodies of water, for certain farmers and on lawns but thats not right to kill them illegally, make them suffer, and then do nothing with them. and Its NOT their right a property owners, they can put up a fence, but a net, an electric fence, anything like that I'm sure is against the law and can land them some serious fines and problems

we dont know what the owners intentions were with that the fence, maybe it was put there to stop boaters from peeing on his lawn, we dont know. but it is his right to fence off his property unless town has laws agianst it. its to bad the bird got stuck and died but thats life

I thought it was there to keep the birds out, and when i talked to the guy next door he was told by the property owner thats what he put it there for. This neighbor didnt like it either.
Sure, put up a real fence so the birds can fly over it. Dont put up a death trap net.
How about not buying a house on the water

What is wrong with people these days. Its pretty fu^%*in funny !!!! Arent we supposed to protect wildlife, no matter what?????

What a joke this has become .......
and no, im not just annoyed with the result of this thread, ive posted this on another site and get some of the same fu%#in crap.

Screw it, if this is what you get for trying to make a difference

Looks to me like the intent was to trap and kill, not keep them out. Even if the only reasons was to keep them off the property a net fence is obviously the wrong way to go about it, ever see dead birds trapped in stray fishing line? I can't see the netting to well from the picture and likely neither can the birds. If you can afford a lake front home you can afford a proper fence to keep geese out.

Rookie,

For what it's worth, I agree with you too!

We have a guy who purchased a house next to the fire department, and all he does is call the Mayor after every fire call because the fire trucks make to much noise.

DUH jackA$$... It's a fire house. it was here 40 years before you..!
