I haven't been updating too much because I've been fishing a lot...like more than even PECo does. Nothing really exciting to report, except there are 1-3 lb. bass everywhere...Crystal, Scoville, Batterson, Bolton, Black, Silver, Moodus, Wethersfield Cove, 1860 Reservoir, Rainbow, etc.

So far this season I've been asked for my license by the DEP 6 times, plus twice by local law enforcement. Also worth mentioning is that my phone's notification ringtone has caused confusion while fishing on 3 separate occasions. This makes absolutely no frikkin' sense and has me baffled since it's not fishing-related or a stock ringtone. I caught a 3.75 lber on a black buzzbait at Black Pond during the new moon, then watched the little green & white house get demolished the next morning. Sad If you don't know what I'm talking about...here's a photo I took last fall:

(Now picture it without the house.)

Anyway, yesterday I fished from about 5-9:30 p.m. at Pickerel Lake. Really nice evening, very calm and comfortable. Wish you were there.

I covered a lot of area...headed straight for the back coves since I haven't seen them since April. Tried a Texas rigged twisty-tail worm, a weightless trick worm, and some shallow-diving crankbait that's never caught anything. After about 20 minutes, I switched to my trusty garlic frog since I love the topwater action. Here's what I caught:

"One more cast" at the ramp produced "one more bass," which is abstractly depicted below, with lighting courtesy of my truck's interior lights. This launch area gets DARK and super buggy. Probably a good thing, or I'd still be there. Pickerel is fantastic at night, until the mosquito-related blood loss makes you too weak to cast.

Forgot to take a photo of this one since I got a really good hookset in the thickest part of the cartilage & spent a minute getting the hook out...

So, 4 bass and a slimedart. Can't complain.

I love the video! Garlic frogs, huh? It must be really shallow in that cove.

It varies...the bass don't care. I use the frogs in deeper water too. Anywhere you'd use a buzzbait.

This can only result in more phone fatalities. Just so everyone knows...this was shot using a well-secured camera & tripod. DO NOT attempt to take video using a cell phone - it will eat up your battery, you'll get a crappy hookset, then you'll lose both the fish and the phone. Then your replacement will be the Eris. UGH.

I'm no metalfish but I tried. I fish somewhat more quietly (and i catch fish.)
Sorry Ian, if you ever come back to read this. Smile

Nice job Kira! Love the video, nothing like a topwater strike.

Then those gentlemen's clubs really need to update their format.
