I took my row boat up to the north end of Quaddick lake today. I brought three different setups... first was my main go-to setup - spinning reel with texas rigged weightless yum dinger. I also brought my newly acquired baitcasting setup, to which i tied on a small green weedless jig - wanted to try and figure out how to flip/pitch (didn't go that well lol). last but not least was my medium/heavy baitcasting carp/pike/saltwater setup, for which i tied up a quick "fishfinder rig" with 2 oz sliding sinker, a steel leader, circle hook, and ~4-5" whole frozen smelt for bait.

i figured i'd provide all those details to make this post at least slightly interesting.... because the fishing was SLOW. a handful of nibbles on the dinger and the jig, no takers on the smelt. landed one small pickerel on the dinger.

i ran into a co-worker out on the water, he's fishing a tournament there tomorrow... all i could tell him was good luck!

Caught my first pitchin’ bass yesterday! Fishing from shore at a little no-name pond in Thompson. Green flip-it jig, with the back half of a torn brush hog as a trailer. I always save ripped up soft plastics to use as trailers Smile

Nice. Did the bass pick it up off of the bottom?

Yes, the bite came a split second after the jig hit the bottom. There’s a small patch of plants in the corner of the pond, where the water is only ~18” deep. Pitched right in next to the plants, probably my 5th pitch to roughly the same spot did it.
