Nooby,

All derbys have been cancled (Highland Lake 12 Feb. also) due to lack of any decent/reliable ice Evil or Very Mad

Sorry kid but that's the way it is -> NO ICE Exclamation

Nooby,

Per the posts -> Bantam is opening up and ice getting thinner -> it is south of Winchester and at lower altitude.

The way the ice is now I do belive that too will be canceled if it already hasn't !

Many derby's in Mass, Vermont, and NH have been cancled due to Thin or No Ice and Ct is way south of them!

Just heard,

Reported that a fellow went thru the ice at Bantam !
Supposedly in South Bay!
Waiting for further conformation!

If true -> Then it's pretty much over for Bantam!

Update:

Yes! A fellow did go thru the ice at Bantam yesterday in South Bay where most ice fishing is done.

Luckly he got out Exclamation

FYI: Just because we've had some cold nights for a few hours -> "Doesn't mean the ice is OK!"
If you go -> Check for thickness starting from shore and every few feet out Exclamation

STAY SAFE Exclamation

Hi Jlangill2 -> Oh and you too Nooby,

Just came from Highland 3:30 PM .....2/9/12
Drove around 1st Bay and 2nd Bay
NO ACTIVITY THERE Exclamation
Edges all showing 1 to 3 feet of open water at various locations.
Ramp showing 1 ft. of open water and at the front parking lot wall 3 ft.

So? Where were you? That showed 6" of ice?

Also went by Burr -> Edges all open with large open water area in the middle at north end -> Open water in front of the beach and around pennisular.

Park showing 6 inches to 1 foot of melted edges.

Winchester -> edges just starting to show melting right side of ramp and along the dam face.
Discusting to see someone made a fire on the ice and left coals and 1/2 burnt wood in front of the dam.

Last night, here in the NW the temp didn't drop below 32 F until almost 2:00 AM this morning!

3 hours of cold temps below freezing didn't do a dam thing :!
Sun came up and temp shot up over 15 degrees fast.

Nice for guys like you to have such wonderful expectations Exclamation :
Stay SAFE!
