I haven't explored the area below the Enfield dam and wanted to get up to that area to try some shad and striper fishing. Has anyone launched from the Kings Island boat launch? I know that area of the CT river is usually real shallow but would I be able to get around with a jon boat?

I used to launch and fish my little aluminum there all the time with a short shaft 6hp and torlling motor. you just needed to be careful and go slow. Haven't fished it in a boat in years though so my info is old. Good luck,.

The water is REALLY LOW right now, so wait until the water comes up a few feet, then you should be fine.

With the drought-like conditions we've been having, do you think that Massachusetts will ever really open up the dam this year?

Thanks guys for getting back to me and your info. I think I might wait till the water level goes up a little bit. Hopefully we get some rain soon. I hit a sand bar in the Farmington river the other day while breaking in my new motor and don't want to chance it again.
