I went out and purchased a new rod and reel combo today because i broke my cheap rod on a snag this morning(it was a zebco.)

I was tired of the low end walmart brand stuff, so i stepped it up to low end abu garcia for $70. I think i did alright but needed a second opinion, my wife wasnt there to cosign and sooth my buyers remorse.

I also bought 20# P-Line to go on it, not sure if i should have gone with the 12# or 14# I hate breaking my line. _________________ "Come after Me, and i will make you to become fishers of men"

I bought that same setup but a 6'6" baitcaster. I've heard mixed reviews but honestly I like it and have no problems. I got it for 80 and also got a 20 dollar mail in rebate from Abu. I have 30lb Sufix 832 braid with 20lb fluro on it. Works well. _________________ Steve |

				| Hey I'm a lifetime Abu fan. Where did you go for it? I'm looking for a 7' set up baitcasting. But I don't have a ton of cash after moving recently. That seems like a good deal for an Abu set up. |

20 pound test P-Line might be a little heavy for a spinning reel. Heavier fluoro tends to jump off of the spool like a spring. I've used 15 pound test P-Line fluoroclear on my spinning reels with no issues, but would be afraid to go heavier than that. _________________ Don't forget to wear sunscreen and don't litter! |

I got mine from Dicks sporting, it was $70 for me because i had a $10 off coupon, because they get so much of my loot its actually $80 but they do give you the $20 rebate as mentioned earlier, which will make it $60 if you have the patience to wait for it.

And Phil you were right on about the 20# test jumping off the spool, but i do like the strength of it, i got into a couple trees while trying to get use to the 7ft rod. Had no issue snatching rigt out of the trees without fearing of breaking the line. _________________ "Come after Me, and i will make you to become fishers of men"

Reel on vengance combo i bought less than two months ago has already busted. Bail does not flip back any longer. so much for quality made products _________________ "Come after Me, and i will make you to become fishers of men"

Sometimes the spring that pushes the bail over breaks. It's easy to fix if you have a replacement spring. I keep old reels around as parts donors. _________________ Don't forget to wear sunscreen and don't litter! |

I guess i could have done that, had couple old reels around. I actually returned it and exchanged for a shimano soltace 4000 with a medium heavy 7' field and stream. We will see how it goes _________________ "Come after Me, and i will make you to become fishers of men"

				| what reel does the vengence come with? I have a abu garcia orra s model. Brand new model this year. The bail already broke on that damn thing! It was causing my 30lb braid to snap on me. |
