Nice Peco, so are you getting rid of 1 or both of the yaks now?

Um, no. Rolling Eyes I'll keep all five of them, thanks. Wink

Sounds like a great plan! Laughing

Hey, thanks, Stephen! That sounds like a great idea, although the previous owner never named her.

I'll probably go with The Other Woman, Too.

New boat this season. Stayed small so I could run both salt and freshwater, and went with the Triumph skiff because it was cheaper and I have a habit of fishing boulder fields that don't play nicely with fiberglass. I can fish in 6" of water (realistically a bit less than a foot),burn 5-6 gallons all day, and can run around the LIS without worrying about sinking. Still take a beating if it gets choppy, and I won't be fishing the middle of the Race, but a bigger boat eliminates too many other places I like to fish. Would love a 22' Edgewater inshore type boat, but don't want to spend an additional $30k.

Looking to add the new Hummingbird side scan (Humminbird® 598ci HD SI Sonar/ Internal GPS/Chartplotter Combo). It's their entry level ss, and has come down a lot in $$. Anyone have experience with it?

I have a Humminbird 598ci HD SI that I bought a couple of years ago. I intended to mount it on my Hobie Pro Angler (aka The Other Woman), but found the need to mount the side imaging transducer exernally to the hull to be a problem, given the way that I use her. Last year, I lent it to NWDarkcloud (aka Bob) to use on his boat, The Way More Better. However, Bob is more of an "anchor on a spot" than a "move around and look for fish" boating fisherman, so we didn't use it much. I'm going to mount it on The Other Woman, Too after Bob begins overhauling The Way More Better. He has a new Humminbird 196ci for her. I do know that the included maps that came with mine are useless in Connecticut. I'd have to shell out for higher resolution maps, but really haven't felt the need to do so, at least not yet. Wink

Its a Humingbird model 798 CiHD
side scan has all the extras on it found it to be a great finder and bottom plotter. I never realy used it to its full potential I tend to move in, locate a area and fish it for a while like Phil said.
The side scan is a great feature but I never realy got the kind of images that they showed in the Pics on the box for bottom items like logs anf debis, but the general bottom image was rockin!
The "Way more Betters" going in for the shop here next couple days for the instalation of rear deck plates and new rear seat mount and ill be swapping out the 798 CiHD for the New 1 I got for Christmas a 196 Ci thats more suited to my style of fishing .
So in short the side scan option is great if your a mover and a searcher not so much if you the anchor up type........................

Thanks again for the finders Phil the definatly changed my catch this year Thumbs Up

Thanks guys. I'm hoping the side scan will really cut down on the process of locating bunker when I head out to fish the LIS. Looking forward to playing around with it this spring.

Nice! Saw the new boat owner posting from Reynolds Marine. LMK if you want to meet up on the CT in the spring. I'll be out running my new Gemma Rose II as often as possible chasing stripers and pike. Soon as the ice melts ill try and get out there. We could have a small armada of CTFishtalk guys! Congrats!
