So Sevnseat and I hit the Housatonic last sat. It was a very nice day out... we had some chilly nights though... we launched right above falls village dam and fished from there to about a mile north... most of our luck was about 100 - 200 yards north of the dam. We caught smallies on 3-4" Yum Dingers. Lyman stuck with the 3" watermelon/purpleflake and I used the 4" right blue with flake. I tried throwing spinnerbait, Rapala Xrap suspending stick baits, crankbaits... but nothing... Worms seemed to be the only thing they would hit...
After all said and done we got a bunch of dinks... and a couple decent ones...Lyman at one point alittle north actually locked into a small LMB and a Crappie... Nice size one too!
On and off I tried hittin' some Pike with my Pike hunting pole! Threw on the steel leader and tried rippin it up with my large Xrap Rapalas and my Big 1oz. Daredevils.... Twords the end of our day I hooked into a good sized pike with the classic red and white daredevil... Pain in the A@@ to unhook! My goal as always is to make sure the fish lives to see another day, but this bastard was a chore... anyway, he made it back and lived to see another day!
The next day we went out for a little bit with fishingkik and a slower day... might have been from the cooler nights...
Here are some pics of the trip!

just switch it out to a single trailer hook? I've seen a few daredevil's with a single hook at the back of the spoon on the underside... I can't remember where, wonder if they still make them, seems like a pretty good idea. One hook with the pike makes life so much easier, literally as they seem to always get the treble in good and deep.... _________________ Golf Bravo Romeo - Where there's always a crosswind, but nobody will tell you. |
