Stripers thrive in landlocked lakes and rivers in the SE. They don't reproduce well, but when stocked grow well and provide great fishing. Smith Mountain Lake and Lake Anna in VA are places I fished all the time. Winter is prime time. They need big lakes or reservoirs. To give you an idea, Lake Anna is more than twice the size of Candlewood, and Smith Mountain is about Candlewood x4.
