Fished Pocotopaug in E. Hampton for the 1st time with a couple other BAWS guys yesterday morning. Was pretty disappointed. I know there's decent fish in there and I'd need a lot more time to learn the lake, but from what I saw yesterday, I was not impressed. I stayed mostly on the southern end of the lake and my buddy and I mustered 3 rat smallies between the two of us, all coming of a rocky area that had a light house on it. The other guys only got one fish per boat. There was a lot of flat areas with little or no structure showing up on the fish finder and very little weed growth (at least where I was fishing). Perhaps I'll give it one more shot next spring, but in the meantime I'm all set with that place.

It always takes a while to learn a new lake,..I'm usually happy just to avoid a skunk the first time i go anywhere!!

How'd you guys get to go there anyway,..don't you have to be a town resident to fish that place??

Non-residents can fish there pre-Memorial Day and post-Labor Day.

T-Shan,

I had my personal best in that lake. 8lb LMB, that was the fish that got my hook ( haha get it got me hook, I know it was bad) on Bass fishing.

I took if off the first island to the right next to the large rock 10 feet from shore.

There are a lot of rocks along the islands and the northern shore, thats where I catch my best fish.
