A friend of mine took my two boys and I out on the CT River to fish for some channel cats. We anchored just north of the Wethersfield Cove in the main river. We brought lots of different bait including night crawlers, shrimp and mackerel. It was not long and the bite was on!

First catfish in the boat!

Our variety of bait started producing a variety of fish. One of my sons caught this small striper!

My other son caught this black crappie.

The catfish were biting too!

The surprising thing to me was that we were catching a bunch of smallmouth bass on shrimp!

I even caught a nice SMB on some shrimp.

So we got 12 catfish, 9 SMB, 1 striper, 1 rock bass and 1 black crappie.

Nice! Love to see Father and Children picts. I deal with so many individuals who never had parental support.

Great job.

Nice catching, the fish may not be the only ones hooked. Catching nice fish gets kids hooked. That's great.

Oh, they are hooked alright. The kids are itching to get out and catch some more fish before they have to go back to school.

Nice job by your boys!

Nice to see they are holding the cats by the mouth too! I see plenty of children, even 11 year old boys, affraid to hold a fish even if it's a crappie.
