Today i hit Mt Tom i hopes of catching a salmon.I arrived at 2:00 pm and started trolling a 1/4 gold perch kastmaster. I made a couple of passes by the beach and around that end without so much as a hit. I decided to head down the other end to see if i could come up with something.I tossed out a second line with a 2.5 inch gold mooselook wobbler and headed down.Just as i made my turn to come back i caught an 18 inch brown on the kastmaster that gave no fight and came in like a heavy clump of weeds.

This time i trolled down opposite of the beach and caught a 11 inch brown on the wobbler along the docks across from the beach.

I made several more passes up and down the pond with only a couple light hits.Around 5:00 my buddy showed up and we trolled around together for a while. When we finally went our own ways,he caught a small brown on a joes spinner and i caught a small 9 inch brown on the kastmaster again.

We continued trolling around until 7:30 and i needed to give my legs a rest so i floated around just off the beach.I casted the kastmaster around to the few rising trout and was able to get a 4th one about 11 inches.

My friend came by,did one more pass then hit the road.I stayed for another 20 minutes to try for one more but,had no such luck.I headed in,loaded up and left around 8:15. No salmon were caught again.Nor did we see any jumping today.I think Thursday or Friday i'll give it one more go up there.Tomorrow evening I'm going to try some fly fishing at the Naugy to see if i can get one from there before the end of the month when it becomes catch & release there until December.

Everyone hits them hard with minnows literally a few feet deep near the beach.

NO ONE has been catching Anything off the beach no matter what they use.
I saw people using minnows, worms, mealies, powerbait.Occasionally a person using a lure catches one but, only when they whip it WAY OUT.
The fish have been out in deep water or the middle lately.
Even saw a fly fisherman there for 4 hours without any luck.
I'm going there tomorrow again to work it for salmon.

Hmm, well that was last year in mid October where the frost started kicking in so the water was most likely cooler. I saw your other post about the salmon. Congrats! Im still ready to get my first but cant do it with all this work and school.

Thanks.
I was told they did something a little different with this first batch of salmon this year.
They took a boat and dumped them out in the middle.
Apparently, last year when they dumped them from shore. They stayed around there and people had easy pickings.....not to mention people were attempting to snag them.
That was the first batch of 2-6 lbers.
The next one in November will be 6-15 lbers so they may do the shore thing.
WE WILL SEE!

The trout probably will move to the beach area seeing that the alewives go there at night. They were there in big schools last week but, weren't hitting anything yet.
