Hi!

The only boat that does "any" winter fishing for cod from Ct. -> is the Hel-Cat II out of Groton, Ct. -> operated by my good friend Capt. Brad.

I went out of Scituate, MA a few months ago. The outfit is called Massachusetts Bay Guides. It's a charter boat, not an open boat. On Thursdays they do "Mixed charters" so you don't need to get all six to make the charter. It was $200 for a full day and we did much better than I did in CT with cod. I'm not sure if they fish in the colder months, though.

The drive is about 90 minutes from Northeast CT.

No cod fishing on the Hel-Cat this year. If you want to go on a party boat your best bet is the Frances Fleet out of Point Judith, RI. Their not catching many cod yet but alot of jumbo sea bass and big scup are being caught on the cod trips

The Island Current fleet sailed daily out of Point Judith the last few winters. Not much further to drive and quicker to get to the fishing grounds on the boat.
