Park had 4 off of launch.

Out of all those inches, how much hard, strong black ice did you see?

Also, how many yards out from the boat launches would you say had the thickest ice?

was just out today at Highland Lake. Got one decent largemouth, probably just over 2lbs on a small shiner just to the left off the boat launch in about 6 ft of water. Not even a nibble on jigs. There was a group of guys off to the right of me that caught a bunch of bass on tip ups. I was there from about 11 to 2.

Ice was ok near shore - 4" near the boat launch - but down to 3.5", and then just over 3" by the time I got about 100 yards out. Needless to say we stayed "within casting distance" of shore all day. All solid black ice.

I drove by West Hill first, and didnt even bother to check the ice - iced over but didnt look good.

went to Winchester on the way out just to check it, same deal - ice looked lousy, a couple of holes near the launch.

Stopped by Park Pond just to check things out, and 4" of solid ice there and a few guys out there.

Looking at the weather, it seems like after this weekend the only thing I'll need the tape measure for is the fish!

Good report. Next week up Highland way will have single digit lows, and with no snow on the ice should be great fishing by weeks end. I think by next weekend we will be fishing areas around me in Danbury also.. Fingers crossed

Not the spots I like, still on the light side of ice.

Anyone check Ball? I am going to try and check Monday, Tuesday .

I will let you know on up north spots. Had some buddy reports on good fishing on a few spots. My new Marcum comes Monday so dying to get out. I am just praying for no snow storm Thurs or Fri.

This next system is supposed to bring up to a foot of snow upstate and 8 inches to the southern half of the state.

Another problem with this snow maker is windy conditions, preventing ice to form.
