I was reading about these sabiki rigs I used them in cape cod for herring to use as bait for tuna. But I read they work on alewives as well?

Taking of anadromous alewife and blueback herring has been illegal in CT over the past several years. The plan is to extend this for 2014 as well but I'm not sure if it was or not. You should contact the DEEP before fishing for these fish in the CT River.

There is a list of lakes in the 2014 Angler's Guide showing where it is legal to fish for landlocked alewife.

A buddy of mine swears by the Sabiki for Shad, but I've never tried it.
