Went to the CT River in Enfield on Monday 6/16. The flow was about 20,000 CFS which is about as fast as I will go because your are fighting current to stay on a spot more than fishing. So I headed to the Suffield side and the water was murky. Fished for a bit and caught six bass all on Senkos and 1 on a crank bait. Only fished for a few hours and stayed north of the launch on the Suffield

Fished the CTR river in MA (Holyoke/Chicopee area) and there was a ton of dead shad/hearing. Water levels have dropped and water temp has gone up. Usually signifies the end of the striper run. Crying or Very sad

Didn't notice the smell, but there were a lot of dead Shad which is nothing unusual for this time of year.

That's a good thing. Lots of dead shad means there were lots of live shad. We used to pass on the order of a half-million or more at the Holyoke Dam back in the 1980's when I worked there. Then they dropped to a small fraction of that. The dead-ends of the Holyoke canals would have many thousands of dead bloating shad. Only about 1/3 survive the whole spawning ordeal. Great prey for bass.
