Has anyone tried this new glove made by Lindy? Saw it online and picked it up from Harborview bait and tackle in Stratford recently but haven't had a chance to try it on any blues. Worked fine for a 16" pickerel but thats a completely different ballgame. I have seen a picture of a guy lipping around a 10lb blue but looking at the glove I am a bit hesitant. Curious to see if any of you guys have tried it yet?

Trying to reel in a fish without a thumb might be difficult. I would not chance it. I've seen them bite bunker in half.

There's a vid on YouTube of a young man handling a 10 pound bluefish on a boat with gloves on. As he's trying to take the hook out, the bluefish jumps its body forward and clamps its jaws and teeth on the guy's left or right hand. The young man was in so much pain even with the gloves on.

Between the teeth and jaws, lipping a pickerel vs lipping a bluefish is like getting scratched badly on rocks vs some very sharp object slicing or stabbing some serious bloody wounds on you.

Love the analogy Michael I completely agree. And Clint you never know the state may open another category in the record books for thumbless fisherman! I am still curious enough that I am hoping to slowly continue to test the glove with smaller fish to see how it holds up. The hard part is catching the fish to try it on but I will keep you guys posted and if I get my thumb in anything worthwhile I will be sure to take a picture
