Deep site claims that the launch is closed still.
Has anyone been down to check? Confirmed?
Thx

The launch was completed in June, but there is no water to launch into, hence it's "closed" listing. The lake is still down 18 feet+ for the damn repair. They're anticipating 8-10 months for the lake to refill....and this heat and lack of rain isn't helping. Here is the latest update from the state:

We have a cottage in the Northwest cove of the lake and this is what it looked like 2 weeks ago. We have to walk 200 yards or so to access water.

WOW! That's quite a picture. Stupid question, but does such a drastic lowering of the water produce a significant fish kill?

Anthony, since you have a place on the water there, I presume you've fished it on more than one occasion. Have you gotten into decent smallies there? I went once last year and I thought the place was really cool, especially with the super clear water and all the rock.

I didn't notice much of a fish kill after the Winter, but with the water so low I'm rarely over there. We pretty much wrote off Bashan for the year.

Unfortunately, we're not waterfront. We're across the street and have access via a private beach that numerous cottages are deeded to. I've never pulled a Smallie out of the lake in the 7+ years we've been there, but I've only been out fishing in the kayak a dozen or so times. I typically just fish from our dock.

I adventured out to Bashan yesterday. The boat launch is in fact finished and looks great, but there is no way it will be operational anytime soon. The stream is about 2' wide, 6" deep & chock full of rocks. You couldn't even launch a canoe or kayak.

Our cove is quickly becoming a jungle!
