Thursday morning I arrived at Seaside just before 10. Low tide for Black Rock was scheduled for 10:53. Forecast was calling for southeast winds to get gusty by noon and rain arriving in the afternoon. Water temps have been staying steady around 54.

Due to the easterly and southerly wind flow, the south-facing shoreline had strong waves and many white caps.

I went out to Fayerweather facing in towards Black Rock where water was calmer but never got into anything. I checked out the city ramp to find gulls occasionally feeding on small bait. Tried casting as tide kept going out but not a single splash or swirl in sight.

Somebody who's familiar with me told me he and a few others had been into schoolies earlier in the day at the Bushwick Metal plant along the Pequonnock, so I took a ride over there.

Ended up seeing schools of peanut bunker along areas of the shoreline, along with active gulls and a flock of hooded mergansers cruising 1 certain area.

The lure I stuck with was a flake blue chartreuse Max Rap MXR-17. Landed a schoolie about 18", had a schoolie follow it in, and lost a schoolie. The schoolie I lost was 1 of those more wild ones that shakes, moves around, and constantly splashes on the surface close to shore. Saw a few splashes made by solitary schoolies.

Took a lunch break Downtown and then went to Knowlton Street Park. Had 2 hits there and a follower that left a huge swirl behind once I took the lure out of the water.

Adult bunker eventually showed up, so I snagged one with the lure and let it swim around for a while, but no takers.

Once it was after sunset I took the bunker off and gave the Max Rap a few more casts before calling it around 5.

Looks like I'm officially done with Seaside and now it's time for local spots on the lower Pequonnock and taking a ride out to Short Beach and the Audubon.
