Have any of you guys around here (especially fairfield county) been out to any of the local lakes res ponds?

If so where and how well have you done.

As for Fairfield County when fishing local I hit the Saugatuck Reservoir. It has been a tough bite there this year. The water levels are super high compared to last year, and you are limited to shore fishing only, that includes no wading.

I have caught trout, largemouth, and smallmouth (which last week I felt were either spawning or prespawning), and perch. You do need a special permit to fish there, and they do check. I have yet to catch a walleye which are supposedly in there, but all the anglers I talk to say they never catch one.

I just suck at catching them apparently. Its not in my destiny to catch one.

Though I caught dinner for tonight, a 12 in. and 18in. rainbow.

Its a shame you cant bring a kayak in the saugatuck res, ive never fished it but there has to be some MASSIVE largemouth in there if you really look for them possibly a state record or two
