Want to buy a legit fishing scale to weigh some fish. I heard that the digital scales can work, and then can't work, so I am leaning towards a spring scale. Anyone have any recommendations?

Bogas are the best scales I've found.

I own a Rapala digital scale and it has worked flawlessly for at least 6 years. Spring scales are ok if you want a measurement that is close, but in bass tournaments every ounce counts, so we need a very accurate scale to be able to cull the correct fish, or a balance beam.

I got a berkley digital scale. It was 40$ and it has lasted me 18 years. I never had to change the batteries. I check it a couple of times a season using various weights to make sure it is accurate.

Don, you're a funny guy! I use a Boga for lifting fish out of the water but for exact measurements I use the X-Tools electronic culling scale which is great as it stores each individual fish's weight.

Nice fish Mud...what is the best you got on rod and reel?

Additionally, I have a berkley digital lip gripper style and it sucks...off by at least 5 ounces in an unpredictable pattern....grips work well though

Brennan,
With any electronic digital scale I check the accuracy of it at work with certified weights to see how far off they are when I buy one. The first X-Tool I got was off by 3 ounces (not acceptable) so I sent it back to the manufacturer for a replacement and now mine is off by 1/2 ounce which I could live with. Didn't want to pay $100.00 for just a fish lipper. Very Happy
